Health is Wealth (did you get your blood pressure checked?)

Yesterday we had a visit from the British heart foundation. Tenants visited ‘the pressure table’ between 11am and 3pm to get a quick health review and some great tips on healthy eating.

Approximately 16 million people in the UK have high blood pressure; one third of people with high blood pressure do not know that they have it. Most people with high blood pressure don’t have any symptoms, others experience symptoms such as sweating or headaches.

Lack of attention to the little things mean most individuals do not think they need their blood pressure checked, resulting in health risks they may not be aware of till it is too late. Talk to your doctor about your blood pressure and ways to improve/ manage a healthy lifestyle.

A quick check goes a long way.

Apprenticeships with Pebble

PebblePad are switching individuals onto the power of learning and earning by providing apprenticeship opportunities through the University of Wolverhampton. Their most recent apprenticeship is Digital and Technology Solutions which is currently provided to 6 apprentices. This programme allows Pebble to teach valuable skills need by business while providing industry experience and supporting.

Solisco are changing the concept of Transportation

Solisco have been working hard to change the concept of transportation this year, bringing us the Smart Energy & Transportation Charging Hub (SETCH) project.

The aim of the project is to change the way charging points are deployed by creating an Eco-system of mutually- supportive sources of micro-generation and EV-charging demand rather than the standalone charging posts implemented historically.

After winning the Innovate UK & Office for Low Emission Vehicles competition in 2018, and working with local authorities and universities to solve the challenges of electric vehicle charging in public spaces, they carried out a feasibility study including pre-planning applications, site surveys, execution strategies, full design and planning as well as cost analysis within a three month period in order to birth the SETCH project.

EIC/ BTC Christmas Party

Tis The Season

 

 

Our annual Christmas party which took place on Thursday 12th Dec was a real delight with an assortment of Christmas treats.  A great opportunity to mingle with co-workers and tenants; it was also a chance to get to know people you don’t see everyday. An occasion full of laughs and smiles with great music, food and games like ‘Pin the Nose on Rudolph’.

 

 

Despite the initial hesitation, tenants had a blast trying to pin Rudolph’s nose and guessing the contents of Santa’s sack. Though most of us were far off the map with Rudolph’s nose, it was still great fun comparing the distance between all noses pinned, with some reaching the corners of the pages and the closest nose being very close to perfect!

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Our winners didn’t go home empty handed! The best players got a chance to win some accolades and sweet treats like Quality Street and a Christmas hamper full of all the Christmas goodies that bring a smile to our festive faces. Some also came photo ready in fashionable Christmas jumpers, ready to rip the Christmas runway and win this year’s Best and Worst Christmas jumper competition.

This year’s Christmas jumpers were a real site to behold, some people settled for the cliché Christmas pieces and others decided to Up The Anti with full costumes, unusual designs and creative alternatives. We even had our very own walking Christmas tree which came in the form of a beard! The creativity presented this year led to two best jumper winners!

 

 

 

 

 

With 2019 coming to a close the E-Innovation team are wishing you a wonderful holiday season and a great start to the New Year.
